Are you sure it's not "Hey, I see 1...no, 2...no...5 gray hairs!"?
It would be more like "Hey, I taste 1... no...2...no... 5 grey hairs.
There's also the matter of what the girl is thinking:
"If he musses up my hair, this latte is going right down his pants!"
"Do I *look* like a head rest?"
"If his Adam's Apple were any bigger, I could lose an eye!"
