Best Comic

This week the best comic was "Dr. Doom and the Masters of Evil". This was a "Marvel Adventures" book, but it fell in the "X-Men First Class" realm of humanizing the various members of the Masters of Evil with a humorous touch. Mysterio disguising the group as a punk band or as Stark workers on a coffee break was awesome, as were smaller touches like Chameleon asking to borrow a car.

Highly recommended, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Lately I have been reading comics a bit again -- a friend turned me on to 100 Bullets, which I really enjoy (last volume doesn't come out until July or something, though, damn their eyes), and I also read the first volume of Ed Brubaker's Criminal. Something about the crime genre I find more enjoyable -- though I have also been re-reading Watchmen as well. I'm not sure what I'm going to read next, but have been thinking about things like Constantine and Preacher. Any recommendations? I tend to prefer non-tights stuff (though I also really like Busiek's Astro City) with particularly strong writing.

Let's see:

The Walking Dead has a good reputation, though I'm not a zombie fan.

I think you mentioned you read "Y: The Last Man". You should pick up "Pride of Baghdad". "Maus" comes highly recommended, and "Fables" is one of the best books out there.

You might want to pick up some "Sandman" graphic novels while you're out there, and, for some non-comics material, the "Understanding Comics" trilogy is great reading.
